The Merrill Police Benevolent Association (MPBA) has announced their first annual Christmas concert, this year featuring Red Higgins Classic Country Christmas, to be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at Les & Jim’s Lincoln Lanes. The evening will include a smoke house buffet dinner starting at 6 p.m.; the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce, Pier 2 Cenex, and the Merrill Police Department during normal business hours. Historically, this show sells out quickly wherever Red is performing.
Proceeds will benefit the Merrill Police Benevolent Association which supports projects and community events throughout the year.
Higgins was born and raised in northern Wisconsin–specifically on a farm northwest of Medford in the Taylor County township of Hammel and Molitor. He is a Nashville recording artist who has appeared on national radio and television broadcasts to include RFD and the Midwest Country Show. For many years, Red has been performing his Classic Country Christmas show to benefit local charities. The Merrill show will include Red, his wife Lisa Marie, and his five-piece band performing Christmas music in the traditional country music style he is known for.
