Professional storyteller at T. B. Scott Library

First there was language, then stories and storytelling and then came literature and books. Experience and learn more about the art and craft of storytelling on Sunday, April 10, at 1 p.m. at T. B. Scott Library in Merrill. Meet and listen to professional storyteller, Tracy Chipman, who has performed at numerous libraries, schools, cafes, bookstores and outdoor festivals.

A Wisconsin native, Tracy began telling stories as an educator of young children in 1989. There, stories and storytelling were woven into many areas of the classroom curriculum.

At T. B. Scott Library, Tracy will perform a mix of stories including personal narratives, regional lore, and folklore from around the world. Throughout the program she will encourage participation through active listening and active imagining.

This special event is part of the year-long celebration of the centennial of Merrill's Carnegie Library building. It also marks the start of this year's National Library Week, April 10-16.

The event is open to the public free of charge. Books will be given away in a prize drawing to two lucky audience members.
