Philipp W. Cohrs

Philipp W. Cohrs was born on May 20, 1934 and went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 15, 2023.

Phil was born and raised in Pine River to Irene and Herbert Cohrs.

He graduated from Merrill Senior High on May 27, 1952. He proudly served his country from 1954-1956 with the United States Army, stationed in Baumholder, Germany.

He married Nancy Jabas on April 24, 1954, she faithfully saved all his allotment checks to furnish their first home when he returned.

He worked for Seeger’s Dairy and then became a Union carpenter. He advanced to Business Agent for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, until he retired. He was very proud of his Union Membership and his accomplishments. He served on the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors, serving as chairman for a time. He was a board member for North Central Technical Collage. He was a proud member of St. John Lutheran Church, serving in many ways along with being instrumental in various projects for both the church and school.

Phil is survived by his loving wife Nancy of 69 years.

His children, Julie (Peter) Rajek Sr., Peggy Gruetzmacher (Dean Kleinschmidt), Bruce (Jill) Cohrs.

Grandchildren Peter (Jennifer) Rajek Jr., Philipp Kiefer (Melissa Landenberger), Thomas (Amy) Keifer Amanda (Jason) Peskie, Molly (Robert) Krueger, Jason (Jennifer) Cohrs.

Great Grandchildren:  Hunter, Alex, Damien, Makayla, Colten, Hannah, Cody, Jordan, and Justin.

His siblings: Doris Wanless, William (Carolyn) Cohrs, Helen (Harry) Wallace, Margaret (Paul) Zimmerman.

Sister-in-laws, Donna Woller (Buck Tesch), Shirley Woller (Wayne Schultz) and brother-in-law David (Bonnie) Jabas, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, and brother-in-laws.

Funeral services will be held at St John Lutheran Church, Merrill Wi. Visitation 9:00 am-11:00 am, Service at 11:00 am, followed immediately by dinner served in the church basement. Friday October 20, 2023.
