Paul Michael Closser (Mike) passed away on June 16, 2024. He was born in Indiana on August 26, 1944. He “once always” a Proud United States Marine from 1962 thru 1966. He is leaving behind his Loving Wife and best friend Gail, and his three 4 legged kids, Thor, Duke and Sabastian. He is also leaving behind his brother-in-law, Dennis and nephew Daniel, his adopted Family, Al, Doreen, Vern and Heather, and many Good Friends, Co-workers and neighbors. Mike loved hunting, fishing, camping and gardening, which is how we found the utopia of Merrill. He gave up working for General Motors to live here. After coming to Merrill, he worked for Phillips Plastics, then started his own Training and Consulting Business, and went on to start the Lil’ Ole Winemaker Shoppe in Merrill. Lastly worked for a short time at Northern Wire where he decided to retire.
We have so much to be thankful for. A Man who had a genetic disposition to heart issues, living to almost 80 years old. That is a blessing. Gail was so blessed to have had over 4 decades with this Great Man. An intelligent, wise and kind and giving man. A risk taker, an entrepreneur, a man with a love and appreciation for nature. Appreciation for God and Conservative values. A love for animals. Love for his wife. A resourceful man. A life Icon. Mike will be Greatly Missed.
We want to thank the Town of Russell, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and City of Merrill Ambulance. Mike had a massive heart attack on June 8, 2024 and with their immediate and effective response he lived until the 16th. At Mike's request, we will not be having a funeral service. If you would like, “remember” Mike through a donation to the Lincoln County Humane Society or the American Heart Association. And as Mike would say, "I had a Great Ride.....Thanks Dudly!"
