In the wake of increased demand for assistance at local food pantries due to lingering effects of the pandemic and rising costs, Park City Credit Union stepped up to support its community. The credit union made a significant impact during the holiday season with a donation of $3,800 to food pantries in Minocqua, Merrill, Rhinelander, and Tomahawk. This contribution highlights the credit union’s strong commitment to addressing urgent community needs and enriching the lives of residents.
All area food pantries have experienced dramatic increases in utilization after the extra food benefits from COVID ended. The Rhinelander food pantry has seen almost triple the utilization of some of their student programs. Similarly, the Merrill food pantry had almost 40 new households enroll in their program, reflecting the growing need in these communities.
In Merrill, 172 turkeys were purchased for the local food pantry. Throughout November, every family visiting the pantry received a turkey, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
