Park City Credit Union continued efforts to support the community by planting perennials around the T.B. Scott Tower on the River Bend Trail. This project is a part of the Park City Cares initiative, a program designed to benefit the community through random acts of kindness.
“At Park City, we get the honor of helping our members fulfill their dreams every day,” said PCCU CEO Val Mindak. “As an added benefit, this work also comes with the opportunity to serve our members’ communities, as well. We asked staff members if they would be interested in pitching in, and as always, we had a group ready to help.”
Through the efforts of many, including Park City Credit Union, the Tower was saved and relocated to the River Bend Trail. Donations are still being accepted at parkcitycu.org/donate to support beautification projects related to the tower.
The T.B. Scott Tower was originally a part of a house built by Thomas Blythe Scott more than 135 years ago. Scott was instrumental in bringing the lumber business, and the railroad supported by it, to Merrill. The tower was relocated next to the Agra Pavilion on the River Bend Trail after Ascension Good Samaritan Hospital announced it would demolish the building.
PCCU donated $5.000 for a concrete slab for the relocated tower to sit upon earlier this year. The funds also covered a decorative fence.
