We welcome letters to the Editor, a chance for members of the community to comment on issues of concern to them. All letters must be original, not duplications of letters addressed to public officials or written by others. To the Editor:
Politically, our two-party system regarding the election of a President has worked very well for us for hundreds of years. The same should be true for this year’s Presidential election except for one very important distinction – Donald Trump.
Please recognize the following facts:
1. By a jury of his peers (this is how the system works) he has been judged guilty of 34 felony accounts. Conveniently, his sentencing will not take place until after the election on Nov. 5, but some form of legal repercussion will eventually be delivered by the courts.
2. He still might have to legally answer to several other situations:
a. His complicity and relative inaction to the tragic events of Jan. 6. (We have all seen the pictures and heard his words on that day.)
b. His verbal request to Georgia election officials to “find him” 11,780 votes – very illegal!
c. Retaining several boxes of top secret documents at his personal home in Mara Lago, Florida – and then refusing to release them to the proper document authorities upon their request.
d. Continued denial of the fairness of the 2020 elections in spite of all official documentation to the contrary!
3. And, if it is possible, the worst transgression possible is his promise (which has been repeated several times) that, if elected, he will declare himself a dictator for one day where he will have the opportunity to do what dictators do. The question that every citizen needs to ask: Has there ever been a dictator in the history of the world who has been satisfied with dictatorship for one day? Of course not!
Nov. 5 is Election Day in this great nation … and we cannot afford to elect Donald Trump for reasons listed above. There are other choices available to you.
Sincerely,
– Carol and Bill Weber
Middleton, Wis.
