The Bluejays boys soccer team took two more tough Valley losses on the chin last week, dropping a 1-0 nailbiter at Marshfield on Tuesday, before falling 3-0 to SPASH at home on Thursday.
The scores were a role-reversal from the previous encounters when Merrill lost 3-0 to Marshfield on Aug. 30, then slipped 4-3 in overtime to Point on Sept. 15.
Quinn VanOudenhoven scored the only goal of Tuesday's contest in the 28th minute, or roughly 2/3rds of the way through the first 40-minute half.
Merrill's Nathan Beyer came up with 8 saves and the Tigers' Neil Dums had 4.
Point was at 3-5-2 before Tuesday, while Marshfield was hanging at 3-6-2. The Bluejays were at 0-8-2.
Getting the Point
Merrill held SPASH to one fewer goal than in the previous meeting, but couldn't crack the net itself. No other details were available.
