MFD to hold EMS informational meetings July 27-28

Posted

The Merrill Fire Department (MFD) will hold two informational meetings on ambulance operations this month, closing out a five-session series meant to inform the public about EMS needs in Lincoln County.
The meetings are set for Monday, July 27, 2026, at 6 p.m. and Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 5 p.m., both at Merrill City Hall, 1004 E. First St.
Three other sessions were held earlier in the month at the Merrill Fire Station, 110 Pier St.
Each meeting includes a presentation from the fire department’s command staff covering the history of ambulance service in Lincoln County, current operational challenges facing the department and community, and potential funding options. The sessions also feature outside EMS resources on hand to answer questions.
The meetings come as the City of Merrill and Lincoln County continue negotiating their ambulance service contract. The two entities have partnered since 1970 to provide ambulance coverage to the southern two-thirds of the county, and the contract was last renegotiated in 2008.

Light refreshments and snacks will be provided at each meeting by Merrill Firefighters IAFF Local 847.
“We are excited for the opportunity to tell everyone what we do and how we try to keep our community safe,” said Merrill Fire Chief Josh Klug, who encouraged residents to attend one of the sessions.
The Merrill Fire Department will also livestream meetings on its Facebook page.
