The Merrill Theatre Jays, Merrill High School’s (MHS) acting and theatrical group, will present their fall play entitled, The Murder Mystery at the Murder Mystery, the end of next week. Scheduled for three performances in the MHS Auditorium - a 7 p.m. show on Friday evening, Nov. 8, 2024, and both a 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. performance on Saturday, Nov. 9 - the English-themed mystery drama also incorporates a bit of dry humor to showcase the acting skills of Merrill area teens. One thing this production is not short on: dead bodies. There are bodies everywhere in this whodunnit murder mystery, and everyone is a suspect!
But as the cast and crew try to determine who among them is a murderer, and one solution offered in more than one scenario is that “all you have to do is put a bit more English on it,” the plot thickens and another new twist - and another body - is discovered.
The cast of this year’s production includes appearances by Isabella Stutting as Scarlet/Ms. Polly, Myah Webb as Holly Hanover/Mrs. Margaret Polk, Rory Gates as Sandy Smith/Gertrude Polk, Hazeley Gates as Misty Gere/The Maid, Nick Van De Weerd as Richard Green/Mr. Frederick Polk, Devin Billington as Tom Baines/Mr. Humphrey Black, Jameson Morgan as Gary Ferguson/Inspector Bradshaw, Maddie McCoy as Erica Stone, Drake Hoffman as Brett Donahue, Acazia Clayton as Susan Wells, Ben Zastrow as Inspector Wright, Austin Doering as Inspector Fuller, Gracie Lessor as Adele Sears, Cadence Stutting as Brenda D. Taylor, Alle Bergh and Ella Bergh as Food Truck Workers, and Lilly Bong, Lexi Robertsen, and Kayleigh Strey as the Theatrical Stage Crew.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students and seniors.
Practice up on your best English accent and be ready to pull out your best detective skills as you try to unravel the murder mystery as the story unfolds. Then head to the high school Friday or Saturday night to support the Merrill High School Theatre Jays and enjoy the show.
