At 10:59 a.m. a bank employee reported a customer had become loud and belligerent toward staff. The man was trespassed from the bank.
At 2:52 p.m. a business reported a check it had mailed to another business was intercepted and cashed in Florida for a large sum of money. The transaction was blocked, and the investigation is ongoing.
At 6:30 p.m. a caller reported his juvenile daughter’s phone had been taken by a co-worker, who added his number to it and began sending her harassing text messages. Investigation revealed the man had sent a sexual request to the juvenile, and other co-workers came forward with additional allegations against him. The man was arrested on charges of grooming a child for sexual activity, unlawful use of a computer, and two counts of disorderly conduct.
At 7:57 p.m. a citizen turned in a wallet found in the roadway. Officers identified the owner using identification inside the wallet, and the owner arranged to pick it up at the police department.

At 6:50 a.m. officers responded to a business parking lot for a report of a physical altercation between two female co-workers who had ridden to work together. An argument over a moved vehicle seat escalated into a physical confrontation. Both women were cited for disorderly conduct.
At 8:42 a.m. a citizen turned in a purse found in the roadway. An officer identified the owner, who picked it up at the police department.
At 11:34 a.m. a man was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
At 12:06 p.m. a caller reported a woman who appeared to be under the influence of drugs came to a construction site and began yelling and swearing at workers before punching one of them. She was held on the ground until officers arrived. The woman was arrested for disorderly conduct and battery, then became resistive, leading to an additional charge of resisting an officer. She was also found to have an open felony bond that she had violated by committing a crime, resulting in a charge of felony bail jumping.

At 3:41 p.m. officers took a fraud complaint from a person who said they had been scammed by someone claiming to work for an insurance company. The caller had sent the individual money before realizing it was likely a scam. The investigation is ongoing.

At 2:58 a.m. officers responded to a public trail for a report of disorderly conduct after a subject allegedly threatened to assault another person during a confrontation. Officers determined the subject was the primary aggressor and noted it was the third response to the area involving the same subject that night after he had previously been warned about violating park curfew. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.
At 3:51 a.m. officers responded to a convenience store for a report of an intoxicated person bothering employees. Officers located the individual nearby, who admitted to being intoxicated but said they had been walking, not driving. At the business’s request, the person was trespassed from the property, and officers gave them a ride home without further incident.
At 7:42 a.m. officers responded to a retail business for a report of a road rage incident in the parking lot. The reporting party said another driver followed their vehicle through the lot after a dispute, then got out for a confrontation. Surveillance footage showed the other driver accelerating through the lot to catch up to the reporting party’s vehicle. Officers later contacted the driver, who admitted to the incident and acknowledged the behavior was inappropriate. The driver was cited for disorderly conduct with a motor vehicle.

At 6:37 p.m. officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle swerving on a roadway, possibly driven by an intoxicated driver. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

At 8:22 a.m. officers were dispatched to a report of a person living in a tent on Riverbend Trail. Officers located a woman connected to the call who had an active warrant and took her into custody.
At 3:54 p.m. officers were dispatched to a local business for a report of a man swearing at employees. Officers warned the man for disorderly conduct, and he left the business without further incident.

At 10:25 p.m. officers received a report of a battery at the MARC Center during the fireworks show. Officers contacted the victim, who had a chipped front tooth as a result of the altercation. The suspect was found to live outside the city’s jurisdiction, and officers requested assistance from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies helped with the investigation, apprehended the suspect, and took him to the Lincoln County Jail.
During this two-week period, Merrill police officers conducted approximately 43 traffic stops and 177 security checks.
