Merrill Police Department reports: July 6-12, 2026

At 1 a.m. officers responded to take an individual into custody on behalf of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. While in custody, the individual complained of difficulty breathing and was evaluated by EMS before being transported to a hospital. After being medically cleared, the individual was transported to the Lincoln County Jail and released into jail staff custody.
At 1:23 p.m. officers responded to a report of an individual lying in a parking lot. Upon making contact, officers determined the individual had an active warrant from another jurisdiction. The warrant was confirmed, and the individual was taken into custody before being transferred to the requesting agency.
At 7:46 p.m. officers responded to a report of suspicious activity in a residential area after a caller reported an unknown individual who appeared to be impaired and had entered a wooded area. Officers located the individual, who appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. The individual was detained while being evaluated by EMS due to an altered mental state. During transport and treatment at a hospital, the individual became combative, resisted officers and EMS personnel, and spit on an officer. The individual was taken into custody after being medically cleared. Requested charges include possession of psilocybin, resisting or obstructing an officer, expelling bodily substances at a law enforcement officer, and felony bail jumping.

At 8:13 p.m. officers responded to a report of a woman walking in a roadway and through residential properties while wearing only a robe. Upon arrival, officers determined through witness statements and their investigation that she had been walking through residential yards and in the street before opening her robe in public, exposing herself to bystanders and causing alarm. She was arrested on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior and disorderly conduct before being transported to a hospital for medical clearance.

At 7:18 p.m. officers responded to a threats complaint stemming from a road rage incident. Officers spoke with both parties involved and warned both for disorderly conduct.

This week, officers conducted approximately 31 traffic stops and 66 security checks.
