MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS

12-11-23
At 1:58 p.m. an officer took a report of harassing messages that an individual had sent to another party. The messages violated the terms of an open bond the male subject had through the courts. The male subject was located and ultimately arrested for bail jumping and other charges.

12-12-23
At 8:37 p.m. an officer took a report of an altercation that had taken place in the parking lot of a business. The officer spoke with the parties involved and witnesses. Based off of the investigation, citations for disorderly conduct will be issued.

12-13-23
At 8:14 a.m a caller reported someone entered her friend’s apartment sometime in the early morning hours and made a mess of the apartment. Investigation continues.
At 3:14 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop. K9 Dasty conducted a drug sniff of the vehicle and indicated a positive alert to the odor of drug(s) coming from the vehicle. A search revealed a methamphetamine pipe concealed inside the vehicle.
At 9:14 p.m. a caller called 911 to report her mother had recorded her during an argument and was now refusing to delete the video. The nineteen-year-old caller was cited for misuse of 911 and disorderly conduct after she began screaming and causing a scene at the home. The caller tore up her citations and continued her loud, boisterous, profane behavior and was subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct. The female became resistive toward officers and was also charged with resisting an officer as a result.

12-14-23
At 7:00 a.m. a female reported a domestic disturbance between herself and boyfriend the previous night. The male had reportedly thrown items at the female during the dispute and damaged a wall. The male was located and arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
At 2:04 p.m. a caller reported two males attempted to break into his vehicle the previous night. Investigation is ongoing.
At 7:08 p.m. an officer began investigating an incident from earlier in the day in which a person drove onto private property of a business and stole several pallets. Investigation is ongoing.
At 11:44 p.m. a caller reported someone had forcibly entered his residence while he was not home. Investigation is ongoing.

12-15-23
At 12:23 a.m. an officer took a report of a theft of a hat from an establishment. The investigation is ongoing.
At 8:53 a.m. an officer took a report of a retail theft incident at a business. As a result of the investigation, two females were cited for retail theft.
At 3:29 p.m. an officer received a report of a suspicious vehicle near the River Bend Trail. The responding officer responded and determined that the vehicle was stolen from Lac Du Flambeau. Officers stood by until the vehicle was removed and transported back to Lac Du Flambeau for their investigation.
At 6:19 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 500 block of E. Eighth St. for a report of a suspicious vehicle/activity. The responding officer made contact with a male subject who had no explanation as to why he was in Merrill and sitting in a vehicle that did not belong to him. He refused to identify himself to officers. The male was eventually arrested for obstructing and on a probation hold.

12-16-23
At 4:29 p.m. an officer took a report of a possible sexual assault that had occurred. As a result of the investigation, a male subject was arrested for 4th degree sexual assault and booked into the jail.

12-17-23
At 12:56 a.m. officers responded to a report of a verbal argument that was occurring on Court St. It was found that a male and female had gotten into an argument and the female had thrown a set of keys before leaving. While officers were speaking with those present, the female proceeded to drive back to the incident location. The female displayed signs of impairment and was place through field sobriety tests. Based on the results of the tests, the female was taken into custody for OWI 1st offense.
