Merrill Lady Jays win awards at Fastpitch Softball Banquet

The Merrill Lady Jays recently held their annual post-season banquet to celebrate their 2023 Fastpitch Softball season.
Standouts in the award ceremony included two players who earned All Conference recognition. Addy Schmeltzer was named All Conference 2nd Team, utility, and Sophie Wendorf was named All Conference Honorable Mention, infield. Addy Schmeltzer also received the Bluejay Award and Queen of the Circle Varsity Award. Sophie Wendorf also received the Slugger Varsity Award. The Brick Wall Varsity Award went to Mia Ott, and Maddie Drew was named Rookie of the Year. Emma Frazier was named Most Improved and received the Clutch Hitter Varsity Award. The Clutch Hitter JV Award went to Kenzie Ellenbecker.
The Varsity Teammate Award went to Erica Arneson, while the JV Teammate Award went to Dani Schielke. Mady Graap received the Queen of the Circle JV Award and the Brick Wall JV Award, while Bella Kottke got the JV Slugger Award. The award for Guts and Grit went to Kayli Wirtala.
