All auction items are contributed by high school staff. Bidding takes place, the auction is closed, and the winners contribute the cost of their "purchases" to the United Way Campaign. Items this year included Nancy's cheesecake, Pete's pickled peppers, an overnight at Dawn's cabin, a round of golf for 2 plus lunch from Dave, an elite parking spot, and a life-sized cutout of Packer Greg Jennings provided by the food service staff.
Holly and Katy give an A+ to math teacher, Helen Schlinkert - "What an amazing woman, Helen gave 12 items to this year's auction, including homemade pies and breads, a 'green house special' of 24 starter plants, flowers until frost, and very yummy homemade peanut brittle." United Way gave Helen a LIVE UNITED t-shirt to thank her for her many donations over the years to the silent auction. Teachers give so much to their students and they also make Merrill a better place to live by giving back to their community and supporting the service of United Way' 21 Impact programs helping children, families, seniors, and folks in need.
