Three new members will be inducted into the Merrill Basketball Hall of Fame this Saturday evening, Jan. 18, 2025. The celebration will take place at halftime of the Merrill Girls Varsity Basketball Team game against Antigo which begins at 7:15 a.m. in the Merrill High School (MHS) Fieldhouse. New inductees include Jessica (VanDerGeest) Truax, Jeff Ott, and John Bezier.
“These three inductees have left a lasting legacy on the school’s basketball programs and continue to serve as role models for athletes and fans alike,” said Merrill Boys Varsity Basketball Team Head Coach Troy Pieper.
The Merrill Boys and Girls JV and JV2 Basketball Teams’ games will all begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, with the Boys JV2 game being held at Prairie River Middle School and the Boys JV and Girls JV games being held at the MHS Fieldhouse.
The Merrill Boys Varsity Basketball Team will also play Antigo, with their game starting at 3:30 p.m. and the Girls Varsity game to follow.
Pieper invites Merrill Basketball fans to join the Merrill Basketball Program in celebrating the achievements of this year’s Hall of Fame inductees and to “relive some of the best moments in school basketball history.”
“Let’s fill the stands and show our appreciation for these Hall of Fame inductees!” he said.
Following the games and Hall of Fame ceremony, “there will be a social get together at Eagles Club!” Pieper said. All are invited.
