Meredith Oehlkers ~ June 9, 1938 – April 19, 2025
MONONA - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Meredith Oehlkers on April 19, 2025, at Agrace HospiceCare. Meredith was born on June 9, 1938, in Merrill, Wis., where she spent her childhood. She married the love of her life, Robert Oehlkers on June 23, 1963, in Merril. Meredith and Robert spent time living in New Jersey where Robert lived his childhood. They moved to Monona, Wis., in 1966, where they spent much time building a home where family could visit and enjoy.
Meredith was a Psychiatric Nurse at Madison General and Meriter Hospital and enjoyed painting nature, attending her church, Lake Edge Lutheran, going to painting retreats, playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling and gardening. Meredith made an impact on so many people’s lives. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Meredith is survived by her brother, Peter Engel; daughter, Jacquelyn Shelton; and son, Dennis (Bobbi) Oehlkers. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Cassie Mattie and Daniel Mattie (Jacci) and Rachel Marie (Dennis); as well as her great-grandchildren, Jaydin, Jordin, Alanna, Mikah, (Cassie) Taylor, Carson and Isabel (Rachel); and brothers-in-law, Bill (Lois) Oehlkers and Ken Oehlkers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Hildegard (Asmus) Engel; and husband, Robert Oehlkers.
A funeral service will be held at LAKE EDGE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4032 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, with Pastor Justin Dittrich presiding. A luncheon will follow at the church. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
