Marshfield Clinic Merrill Center expands physical therapy department size, staff

Rebecca Neumueller and Rebecca Olbrantz join Physical Therapists Mary Repking and Cindy Koehler to provide services in the newly expanded department. And a recent remodeling gives the department double the space it had previously.

"We're excited for the additional space and staff," said Pat Kinney, Marshfield Clinic East Division Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Services manager. "In just a few years, we've doubled our staff to meet the needs of Merrill area residents who come to Marshfield Clinic for a broad spectrum of physical therapy services."

Originally from Wausau, Rebecca Olbrantz earned her degree in physical therapy at Carroll University in Waukesha.

"Physical therapists work with patients to help them regain previous levels of function after an illness or injury," Olbrantz said.

Although Rebecca treats a wide array of conditions, she has two areas of special interest: orthopedics and working with geriatric patients.

"I find orthopedics fascinating and I just like working with the senior population," she said. "They have so much wisdom and experience to share."

Rebecca Neumueller hails from Green Bay, and earned her degree in physical therapy at Marquette University.

"I help people by diagnosing their muscle or joint pain or injury and helping them through the rehabilitation process," Neumueller said. "I'm mostly doing outpatient orthopedic work."

That may involve helping someone with a twisted ankle, spinal pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back pain, or other joint pain such as in the knee, shoulder or hip. She also helps patients with rehab after surgery.

The four physical therapists offer a wide variety of services treating infants to seniors. Services include orthopedic rehab, such as rehab after surgery of the knee, ankle, shoulder or hip; total joint rehab; sports injuries; sprains; strains; and fractures.

Physical therapy is also offered for patients experiencing neurological conditions such as stroke, post traumatic brain injury or nervous disorders.

Other services include balance improvement, worker rehab, chronic and acute pain management, custom orthotics, brace fitting, osteoporosis exercise and wellness training.
