Marldean F. Fechtner, age 78, of Merrill, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.
Marldean was born September 8, 1934, in Wausau, daughter of the late Lawrence and Laura (Jahnke) Edler. She married Robert Fechtner on June 29, 1957, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2003. Marldean was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. She enjoyed camping, fishing, crafting, babysitting her grandchildren, and listening to Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers games. Marldean also enjoyed going to the casino, traveling with her friends, and wintering in Florida.
Survivors include two daughters, Kim (Steve) Van Slate and Kay (Tom) Koblitz, both of Merrill; four grandchildren, Brad (Micki) Krueger, Bob (fiancee, Molly) Krueger, and Missi Ellenbecker, all of Merrill, and Tony Ellenbecker, of Oshkosh; and two great-grandchildren, Marley and Brady. Marldean was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fechtner; one daughter, Susan Kahle; her parents, Lawrence and Laura Edler; and one sister, Elaine Lake.
The funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 5, 2013, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Nathan Kramer will officiate. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 1:00 P.M. Friday, all at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
