Earlier this month, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office introduced two new deputies, as well as a new K9.
Deputies Josh McCaskill and Wyatt Pufall and K9 Dasty have joined the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office said McCaskill brings more than 17 years of law enforcement experience to the agency. A native of St. Cloud, McCaskill attended Moraine Park Technical College before beginning his law enforcement career.
McCaskill began his career with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer, where he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2009. He later transitioned to patrol with the Merrill Police Department, where he served for the past 15 years before returning to the Sheriff’s Office as a Patrol Deputy.
Joining McCaskill is K9 Dasty, a five-year-old dual-purpose police service dog imported from Germany. The Sheriff’s Office said the team is certified through Steinig Tal K9 Academy in Fond du Lac and will serve as one of the agency’s K9 teams.
Outside of work, McCaskill enjoys competing in endurance races and mountain bike races.
“We are excited to welcome Deputy McCaskill and K9 Dasty to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and look forward to the experience, dedication, and service they will bring to our community,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “Please join us in welcoming Deputy McCaskill and K9 Dasty.”
Pufall brings more than nine years of law enforcement experience to the agency, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Pufall, a Mosinee native, attended North Central Technical College before beginning his law enforcement career with the Merrill Police Department, where he was a Patrol Officer. In Aug. 2024, Pufall took on a Detective role, which he filled until his departure.
Outside of work, Pufall enjoys camping and other outdoor activities, the Sheriff’s Office said.
“We are excited to welcome Deputy Pufall to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and look forward to the experience and service he will bring to our community,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
