Posted
Lincoln County may receive emergency food and shelter funds for 2011. The money from the national Emergency Food and Shelter Program, is typically distributed to local non-profit agencies providing emergency food and shelter service after passing through a local application process.

Last year, Lincoln County was awarded $24,433. Amounts are determined at the national level based on poverty, unemployment and population levels for the county.

For more information about the 2011 program, qualifying nonprofit organizations are encouraged to contact Local Board Chair, Lynn Zentner at the Merrill Area United Way, united813@frontier.com or at 715-536-2016. Applications will be emailed to qualifying non-profit agencies.

The Lincoln County Emergency Food and Shelter Committee will meet in Spring to determine use of the funds. Monies will be distributed only to nonprofit organizations which provide emergency food and shelter assistance to Lincoln County residents. In the past, they have included food pantries, the Salvation Army, Northcentral Community Action Program- CAP, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, and HAVEN.
