This grant provides funding to support quarterly trainings/meetings for the network, support local after and before school providers attendance at the Wisconsin After School conference and other conferences/training; purchase of curriculum/materials for trainings; and marketing materials for "Lights On After School" Open House.
Through these experiences providers increase the number of youth engaged in high-quality after-school programs, incorporate civic engagement into their daily activities, provide young people more opportunities to develop their leadership skills, and help them to play positive roles in their own communities.
A portion of these grant funds were utilized to support 11 individuals attendance at the Wisconsin After School Association Annual Conference in Madison on April 2. During the conference, participants had an opportunity to learn about new resources and ideas they will be able to implement in local after school programs.
Participants in this year's conference were: Joy Annis, Susan Palecek, Mary Rohde and Sandra Rusch from the Kate Goodrich Elementary School program; Nancy Beyersdorf and Karla Raleigh from the Washington Elementary School program; Holly Westberg and Lori Odgen from the "After the Bell" program held at the Prairie River Middle School; Kimberly Brixius and RaeAnn Brixius who work with 4-H After School clubs and Debbie Moellendorf, UW-Extension 4-H Youth Development Educator. Each of them will be sharing the resources and ideas they gained from this experience at upcoming Lincoln County After School Network meetings.
For more information on the network, contact Moellendorf at the Lincoln County UW-Extension office at 715-539-1077.
