Lange joins Wisconsin State Patrol

Posted

Logan Lange of Merrill graduated from the Wisconsin State Patrol Academy on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2021, joining 26 other new troopers who will serve communities across Wisconsin.
Lange was previously a Sergeant Investigator of more than seven years with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Lange was part of the 72nd Recruit Class, which included 15 current law enforcement officers transferring from other agencies through a lateral hire program. He will be assigned to Portage County.
The graduation ceremony took place in Wisconsin Dells, recognizing officers from both the 71st and 72nd recruit classes who completed their training at Fort McCoy.
“We’re excited to welcome our new troopers to the team and look forward to their contributions as they serve with integrity, professionalism, and honor,” Wisconsin State Patrol Superintendent Tim Carnahan said.
The 72nd Recruit Class completed an accelerated 16-week training program that alternated between two weeks at the academy and two weeks of field training. The new troopers will receive 12 additional weeks of on-the-job training at their assigned posts.

Gov. Tony Evers attended the ceremony and addressed the graduates.
“It isn’t an easy path or a short path to joining the Wisconsin State Patrol, but I commend all of you for getting the job done and being here to receive your badge today,” Evers said.
The Wisconsin State Patrol will begin accepting applications for the next recruit class on Jan. 11, 2026, with training starting July 13, 2026.
