Aiden Kell of Merrill High School took second place in the Wood Olympics held at Northcentral Technical College’s (NTC) Antigo Campus.
The competition, which included a variety of challenges designed to showcase students’ knowledge of wood working, wood products, and wood manufacturing, included 60 high school students and 15 teams from 10 area high schools including Merrill. Kell finished second in the Woodworking $100 and Over category.
In addition to the challenge competition, students toured NTC’s Wood Technology of Excellence, including a new sawmill training facility at the location, and they also participated in a career fair with local employers from the lumber industry.
