Joyce Marie Berghammer, age 84, of Tomahawk, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at her home.
Joyce was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Merrill to George and Marjorie (Van Riper) Peeters. She married Dean Berghammer July 26, 1945, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Merrill. He survives.
Joyce worked at Golden Age Nursing Home in Tomahawk for over 20 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years, was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tomahawk, where she volunteered in the church's thrift cellar. Joyce was also a poll worker for the Town of Bradley for many years, and served as a 4-H leader. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, and ceramics. She and Dean enjoyed traveling and took many trips together, both within the U.S. and abroad.
Joyce is survived by: her husband of 66 years, Dean Berghammer, Tomahawk; sons, Allen Berghammer, Medford, OR, Richard Berghammer, Tomahawk; daughter, Marjorie (Art Stackowski) Bronsted, Ft. Myers, FL; grandchildren, Amy (Damond) Pikus, Merrill; Dena (Collin) Lueck, Merrill; Ryan (Sarah) Berghammer, Rhinelander; John (Jen) Bronsted, Tuscaloosa, AL, Gina Bronsted, Ft. Myers, FL, Rory (Stephanie) Berghammer, Smithfield, RI, Robb Berghammer, Silverthorne, CO, and Mike Berghammer, Fort Bragg, NC. Joyce is further survived by 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Jim Berghammer; and brothers, Norbert and Harold Peeters.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joyce Berghammer will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 1 from 4-7 p.m. at Krueger Family Funeral Home, with a Vigil Service to begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Frances Catholic Cemetery in Merrill.
