Park City Credit Union is partnering with Hometown Chiropractic Center for its fifth annual “Sunshine on the Street” set for 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. The 30-minute event – supported by local businesses – is intended to spread cheer by mobilizing community members to share encouraging messages of hope and goodwill.
“Every year I look forward to Sunshine on the Street. It is fun to be able to stand outside, hold a sign of positivity, wave to cars, and put a smile on someone's face as they drive by,” said Dr. Zoie Mohr of Hometown Chiropractic Center. “It is such a wonderful and powerful day that I enjoy and love that our clinics spread cheer and positive vibes to our amazing community.”
This year’s event is being held in memory of Dr. Bobbi Voermans who passed away unexpectedly in 2021. Voermans, who served on the Park City Credit Union Board of Directors, launched the annual event after being inspired by other goodwill initiatives. She extended an open invitation for local businesses to participate. Park City embraced the event by showing up with encouraging signs and wide smiles.
Voermans believed that mental health is just as important as physical health, stating in 2018, “It is important to look at the glass half full instead of half empty and strive for a positive outlook."
Hometown Chiropractic Center and Park City want this year’s event to be the biggest yet. Park City CEO Val Mindak said that she would like to see the event expand into Merrill and Minocqua.
“This event was near and dear to Bobbi’s heart, and as such, it is near and dear to us,” Mindak said.
"We strongly believe in the importance of celebrating life and spreading positivity. We look forward to shining a light in our communities with Sunshine on the Street.”
"I love the Sunshine on the Streets event because it has been such a positive tradition of getting the community interactively involved in sharing smiles, laughs, and great quotes," said Grant Voermans, husband of the late Bobbi Voerman.
