Governor approves nearly $158,000 for project at Merrill Municipal Airport

Posted
Governor Scott Walker last week announced a $157,895 project to purchase snow removal equipment at Merrill Municipal Airport.

Eric Johnson, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the equipment includes a bi-directional tractor, a snow blower and a loader attachment to keep airport pavements clear of snow and ice.

The funding breakdown for the purchase includes $150,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration, $3,947 from the state and $3,948 from the city of Merrill.

The equipment is scheduled to be delivered in February 2014.

Merrill Municipal Airport is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan (SASP). It is classified as a medium general aviation airport, supporting most single and multi-engine aircraft, including those aircraft commonly used by businesses.
