Fresh features added to 2011 4H Fair

The Lincoln County 4-H Free Fair, which starts today and runs through Sunday, features some new attractions for 2011.

The Fair Board has retooled its grandstand offerings by expanding live musical entertainment. The Catch-A-Pig contest and professional bull riding events have been eliminated this year.

"The Fair Board decided to make a change and try something different," said Fair Board member Dale Christianson.

The Wrestling Alumni tent will remain in place, with local bands playing there from 6-8 p.m. each night. A new main stage sponsored by Custom Design Heating & Cooling will be set up in front of the grandstands with regional acts performing each night starting at 8 p.m. The line-up includes: Boogie & The Yo-Yoz on Wednesday, Vic Ferrari on Thursday, Jessie Brown on Friday, and Geoff Landon & Wolfpack on Saturday.

Total Destruction Demolition Derby will take over the grandstand area on Sunday with events at 12:30 and 7 p.m.

With the exception of the changes at the grandstand, this year's fair will feature all the activities fairgoers have come to know and love.

Local 4-H members will be exhibiting their animals and projects throughout the fair. Rainbow Valley Rides will provide midway attractions, with ride specials each day.

The Bone & Joint Center Stage will offer live entertainment on the west end of the midway each day with acts including Honk Geese, Gothard Sisters, Dave Fox & Foxfire, Hand Picked, The Kipster and Tom Kniess Orchestra.
