Frances M. Hildebrand, of Tomahawk, WI, passed away peacefully at Tomahawk Health Services the day before her 93rd birthday on October 9, 1932. Frances was born in Tomahawk, WI, to the late John and Frances (Knolt) July. She was married to Edwin A. Hildebrand on March 12, 1949. He passed away on December 1, 2014.
Frances held many different jobs before she started driving the Merrill-Go-Round; a great job because of all the people she met. Fran’s “Fun Run” was the best and, of course, driving people around to see Christmas lights. She was active in many activities at St. Francis School where she even taught gym class for one year. Fran was a Girl Scout leader and was helpful in building Camp Birch Trails. She loved to ride motorcycle with the Leather & Lace Women’s Motorcycle Club. Hunting with the “gang” in Somo country, camping and snowmobiling, and acting in the community play were just a few of her favorite past times.
Survivors include her daughter, Terrie (Art) Zietlow, of Tomahawk; her son, Joe (Augo) Hildebrand, of Merrill, WI; her son-in-law, Doug Polar, of Tomahawk; her brothers-in-law, Fred Hildebrand, of Wausau, WI, and Roy Hoffman, of Merrill, WI; and her sister, Jonathan “Johnnie” Roberts, of Muscoda, WI. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Heather, Aaron, Brad, Ryan, Erika, and Patrick, in addition to many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Frances; her husband, Edwin; her daughter, Joan Polar; three brothers and their spouses; six sisters and their spouses; seven brothers-in-law and their spouses; and her sister-in-law and her spouse.
The family would like to extend a grateful thank you to the caring staff at Tomahawk Health Services while Fran was in their care over the past five years.
In accordance with wishes, private family services will be held. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family. You may view Frances’ obituary and leave online condolences at generationsfuneral.com.
