Four winners announced in Giant Stocking Giveaway

The Merrill Area Park & Recreation Department organized a Giant Stocking Giveaway this year and invited area businesses to participate. Each business had a registration box for their location, and children from the area were invited to put their name into the registration box to win a giant Christmas stocking filled with toys and gifts.
Dawn Smith from Merrill Area Park & Rec organized the contest and said, “I just wanted to bring a little bit of the old-fashioned Christmas back to the community. They used to do these years ago, and then the businesses stopped, and I thought it would be fun to bring it back. In the future I want to more of this!”
Four Merrill area businesses participated this year: Merrill Area Parks & Recreation Department at the Smith Center, Westside Market, Courtside Furniture, and Park City Credit Union. Smith collected the boxes and drew the names of the winners on Dec. 7, 2024. See photos of the winners with their giant Christmas stockings.
