Flea market draws vendors, shoppers to Merrill Fairgrounds

Posted

Bargain hunters and curious browsers turned out for the first of two open-air flea market events of the season at the Merrill Fairgrounds, 2001 E. 2nd St., held last Saturday, June 6, 2026. A wide variety of vendors and merchandise were on display and available for purchase, some at set prices with other vendors being negotiable.
The event, organized by Zurko Promotions, featured an impressive range of goods — from antiques and vintage collectibles to new-in-box merchandise, handcrafted items, and everything in between. A beautiful early summer day created the perfect backdrop, drawing a solid turnout of both vendors and shoppers.
Browsing the booths felt like a treasure hunt, with classic flea market finds around every corner. Shoppers sifted through metal signs and old road signs, cast iron collectibles, vintage radios, Coke bottles, costume jewelry, and even real fur stoles. Washtubs, gas cans, fishing poles and tackle, ladders, furniture, and housewares were among the practical finds, while toy collectors had plenty to dig through — new, vintage, and antique. Several vendors offered paintings and hand-painted décor, handcrafted goods, and unique home accents. Other booths turned up vintage linens, old tools and farm equipment, records and vintage electronics, glassware and pottery, old advertising tins, old radios, watches and old jewelry, books and paper ephemera, holiday decor, primitives and farmhouse décor, and garden art and outdoor décor. A food truck was also on site, giving shoppers a chance to grab a bite while they browsed.
Zurko Promotions organizes flea markets across the region, and the Merrill event is one of two scheduled at the fairgrounds this year. Attendance — both vendors and shoppers — can fluctuate based on competing events in the area and the weather, but organizers are optimistic heading into the next event and hope to see the Merrill market continue to grow.
The second and final open-air flea market of the 2026 season is set for Saturday, July 11, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $2, with tickets available at the gate. Parking is free, and no pets are allowed.
