Five Merrill golfers earn academic all-state honors

Posted

Five Merrill High School Varsity Golfers were recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin as 2025 Academic All-State honorees for their excellence both on the course and in the classroom.
Merrill’s Jacob Schmeltzer, Parker Klebenow, Chase Klebenow, Evan Elliott, and Konner Waid were among 424 students from 128 different high schools honored statewide. The average GPA of all Academic All-State recipients was 3.729.
To earn the recognition, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, participate in at least 75% of their team’s varsity competitions during the 2025 season, remain in good standing regarding athletic and school codes of conduct, and be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.
The Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin was formed by high school golf coaches in 1986 to help build and enhance Wisconsin’s reputation for developing quality junior players by promoting golf in schools and communities.
