Firework suspected in grass fire

The Merrill Police Department and Merrill Fire Department were dispatched Sunday evening to the 1700 block of Jackson Street for a complaint of trees on fire. The officer arrived and extinguished the fire in the woods behind Jefferson School.

A witness said that he saw a large firework go off right before the fire, but did not see anyone. No suspects have been identified.
