"The July 21 EAA AirVenture Cup Race used Merrill Airport as the finish line and would like to continue in the future," said Joe Malsack, Airport Commission member. "Most of you heard and saw low flying aircraft over Merrill."
"The airport is glad to participate in this event, being it draws attention to our little city. Racers from all over the U.S. get to see who and where we are. EAA draws thousands of aircraft every year. Some of these aircraft land at Merrill, purchase fuel, borrow the courtesy vehicle and drive into our city to eat or stay overnight. This is another tourism avenue for our city. Thank you, City of Merrill," he said.
