Dale E. Boyd, 85, of Stevens Point, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at UW-Hospital in Madison.
Dale was born July 7, 1939, in Ironton, WI, son of Alex and Mildred (Spears) Boyd. He married Sally Puphal on March 3, 1961, in Merrill. She survives. Dale retired as a custodial supervisor at UW-Steven Point. Dale enlisted in the United States Army in 1956 and served in the 101st 82nd 8th Airborne division. For a time, he was stationed in Germany. Dale was honorably discharged in 1962. He loved his dogs: Greta, a Miniature Schnauzer and Mesa, a West Highland Terrier. In his younger years, he enjoyed deer hunting. He also enjoyed playing hardball, slow-pitch, and potbelly league.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Boyd of Stevens Point; Cheryll Boyd of Ohio, Carmen (Ken) Farrar of North Carolina, and Kevin Boyd of Wausau; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Wilbert ‘Bill’ Boyd of Wausau, Dean Boyd of Merrill, Gale Boyd of Wisconsin, and Harold Boyd of Illinois.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Mildred Boyd; sisters, Rita (Donald) Starr and Bonny Boyd; brother, Lloyd (Marilyn) Boyd; sisters-in-law, Ceil Boyd, Sue Boyd, and Carol Boyd; brothers-in-law, James Elliott and Ronald Travis.
A graveside service will take place at a later date at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery.
