Community invited to Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans Memorial

The Merrill community is invited to gather Monday, May 25, 2026, for a Memorial Day ceremony honoring those who died in military service.
The event will take place at the Veterans Memorial at St. Francis Cemetery, 2700 Thielman St. The Merrill City Band will begin playing at 10:30 a.m. as attendees arrive, with the main ceremony starting at 11 a.m.
The program will include welcoming remarks, a prayer, the National Anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, wreath-laying, a bell ringing, and a keynote address by Brigadier General Timothy D. Covington. A flyover is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. The ceremony will also feature the Armed Forces medley, a moment of silence, and Taps before concluding around noon.
In the event of rain, the ceremony will move indoors to the Merrill Expo Center at the fairgrounds, 303 N. Sales St. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket for outdoor seating.
Lunch will be available for purchase at the Merrill Expo Center following the ceremony.
The event is organized by local veterans’ organizations and community partners, and all are welcome.
