Organizers hope the Merrill School Forest will come alive with community spirit on Saturday, May 17, 2025, during the 4th Annual “Trees For Our Future” Community Tree Planting Event. Hosted by Merrill Area Public Schools (MAPS) in partnership with the Friends of the Merrill School Forest, the event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school forest located on Hwy. 107, just across from the New Wood County Park.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to join in this hands-on effort to invest in the future of the environment. Whether you can lend an hour or stay the whole day, every helping hand will make a difference.
Participants are invited to bring a lunch and enjoy a picnic at the site. Water and snacks will be provided, and tree planting training will be available throughout the day to ensure everyone feels confident and capable.
Trees play a vital role in both human and environmental health—purifying air and water, improving soil, cooling the climate, and offering habitat to countless species. This event is a meaningful way to give back to nature and help grow a greener tomorrow.
For more information, contact MAPS or visit the school forest on the day of the event.
