For the fourth consecutive year, Tim and Dawn Dunbar of Merrill will share their impressive collection of completed Lego sets with the community. During the months of July and August, the T.B. Scott Free Library Beyond Books: Community ArtShare Exhibit will feature all new completed Lego sets from the Dunbars’ collection, promising to bring smiles to visitors young and old alike.
The couple began collecting Lego sets in the 1980s and has continued adding to their impressive display ever since. This past year alone, they added more than 40 new sets to their collection, which now totals 746 built sets on display in their home. Their collection ranks as the 9,766th largest collection worldwide and includes over 460,000 individual Lego pieces.
“Finding space to display them all continues to be an issue,” they said.
The variety in their collection continues to delight visitors as they marvel at the intricate details of these Lego creations.
Tuesday, July 15, is also Lego Day at the T.B. Scott Free Library. Kids can enjoy Lego stations and other Lego-themed activities in the Youth Department and enter their name to win a Lego set of their own. Tim and Dawn will be available from 4-6 p.m. that day to give tours of their sets, answer questions, and demonstrate the Rough Terrain Crane, or as Lego Technic fans call it, “Big Red!”
