Gerald Whitburn has concluded a 17-year career at Church Mutual Insurance Company, stepping down as Chairman of the Board at its annual meeting on Wednesday.
"Jerry has been the guiding force in taking Church Mutual to the next level," current President and CEO Mike Ravn pointed out. "Under his watch, our customer base grew by more than 40 percent, direct written premium 130 percent, surplus 131 percent and admitted assets 142 percent."
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, Whitburn earned his master's degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He went on to study management at the Kennedy School at Harvard University and the Wharton School of Business.
Whitburn joined Church Mutual as Vice President - Administration in 1996. He was promoted to Executive Vice President in 1998 and President and Chief Operating Officer in 2000. He became President and CEO in 2001 and Chairman of the Board in 2005. Whitburn retired as President and CEO in January of 2010.
He currently serves on the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents, Wisconsin Policy Research Institute and River Valley Bank.
Elevated to chairman is Allen L. Leverett, who is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Wisconsin Energy Corporation and We Energies. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Leverett has a master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University and master of business administration degree from Auburn University.
Prior to moving to Wisconsin in 2003, Leverett served as Executive Vice President and CFO for Georgia Power Company in Atlanta.
He also serves as Director of American Transmission Company and Discovery World Museum in Milwaukee.
