Carl J. Berndt, age 80, of Merrill went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday March 6, 2025 at Woodland Court while under the care of Hospice.
He was born on December 2, 1944 in Langlade County to the late Reinhold and Agnes Berndt. He married Mary Schnur on March 7, 1964.
Carl worked many jobs throughout his life including dairy farming and many years in maintenance at Wausau Insurance.
He was a very avid member of the church. Carl served as an elder at Merrill Bible for years, he and Mary enjoyed hosting bible studies. Carl spent his final years as a member of Highland Community Church.
Carl enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Mary enjoyed taking the grandchildren fishing in Door county and their annual outing to Canada. His favorite pastime was working on projects around the yard and tinkering in his shop.
Carl is survived by his wife Mary; his two sons James (Lynn), Tim (Cathy); 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; two sisters; and his daughter, Rebecca.
In accordance with Carl’s wishes, no formal service will be held.
The family expresses their sincere thanks to all the nurses and staff at Woodland Court and Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion given to Carl.
