UW-La Crosse announces Fall 2023 Dean’s List

The following area students were named to the Dean’s List at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for the fall semester of the 2023-24 academic year, ending December 2023.
Qualification for the Dean’s List is limited to students who have attained outstanding academic achievement. To be eligible, students must have earned at least a 3.5 semester grade point average and carried a minimum of 12 credits.

Ament graduates from UW-Oshkosh midyear commencement

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh 59th midyear commencement held on Dec. 16, 2023, at Kolf Sports Center recognized the accomplishments of students from all three of its campuses (Fond du Lac, Fox Cities, Oshkosh). About 700 students earned bachelor’s, associate, master’s, and doctoral degrees and joined the ranks of more than 100,000 UWO alumni.
From our area, Kamille Ament of Merrill graduated from the College of Letters and Science with a Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation Science.

Radtke graduates from Saint Mary’s in December

Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota announced Alex Radtke of Merrill completed the requirements for his bachelor of arts degree in IHM Seminary Philosophy in December 2023.

Parent named to President’s List at Marian University

Josephine Parent, a student from Merrill, was named to the President’s List at Marian University of Wisconsin for the Fall 2023 Semester. The President’s List is published twice each year with the names of all full-time students who have earned a 4.0 GPA.

UW-Madison announces 2023 winter graduates

A total of 1,966 students received degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison on Dec. 17, 2023, including the following students from our area:

  • Riley Smith of Gleason, from the College of Agricultural & Life Science, received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences
  • Jim Lee of Irma, from the College of Letters and Science, received a Bachelor of Science in Economics
  • Riley Humphrey of Merrill, from the School of Education, received a Master of Science in Sports Leadership
  • Hunter Wallace of Merrill, from the School of Education, received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education

Swan serving as student teacher in Merrill

Richelle Swan from Tomahawk, who is studying Elementary Education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, is representing the university as a student teacher during the spring 2024 semester. Swan, a student in UW-Whitewater’s College of Education and Professional Studies, is serving as a student teacher in elementary and middle schools in the Merrill Area Public School District through the end of the school year.

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire awarded 648 degrees from both campuses in December 2023. Local students who received degrees and their fields of study are:

UW-Platteville announces Dean’s List

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville announces its Dean’s List, honoring those full-time students who earned high honors in the fall 2023 semester. The College of Business, Industry, Life Science, and Agriculture and the College of Liberal Arts and Education require GPA’s of 3.75 and above for Dean’s List honors, while the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science requires students to reach at least a 3.50. Students with an asterisk by their name indicate they also received Chancellor’s Honors, honoring those with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages for the fall 2023 semester.

Savannah Guenther named to SNHU Dean’s List

Savannah Guenther of Merrill was named to Southern New Hampshire University’s Winter 2024 Dean’s List. The winter terms run from January to May. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum GPA of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the Dean’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.

Abigail Burgener named to SNHU President’s List

Abigail Burgener of Merrill was named to Southern New Hampshire University’s (SNHU) Winter 2024 President’s List. The winter terms run from January to May. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum GPA of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the President’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.

Pehlke named to UW-Whitewater spring 2024 Dean’s List

Caitlynn Pehlke of Merrill was named to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Dean’s List for the 2024 spring semester. To be named to the Dean’s List, students must receive a GPA of 3.4 or higher in a single semester.

Wichman graduates from The Milwaukee Institution of Art & Design

Maria Ann Wichman, the daughter of Jason and Kim Wichman of Gleason, graduated May 11, 2024, from The Milwaukee Institution of Art & Design with a degree in Illustration. The commencement ceremony was held at the Pabst Theater in downtown Milwaukee.

UW-Stevens Point undergraduates honored for scholastic achievement

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point honored more than 2,300 undergraduate students for attaining high GPAs during the spring semester of the 2023-2024 academic year. Full-time undergraduates who earned GPAs of 3.90 to 4.0 (4.0 equals straight A) are given the highest honors designation. High honor citations go to those with GPAs from 3.75 to 3.89 and honor recognition is accorded to those with GPAs from 3.50 to 3.74.
Personalized certificates of scholastic achievement are sent to those who earned highest honors distinction.

St. Norbert College 2024 commencement

St. Norbert College in DePere recognized 381 students in the 2024 graduating class, including 361 candidates for baccalaureate degrees and 20 candidates for master’s degrees, at their commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 12, 2024.
Two students from Merrill earned their degrees during the ceremony. Peter Breitwisch earned a Bachelor of Arts and Elizabeth Hartson earned a Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude.

Hanig graduates from Minnesota State University, Mankato

Hugh Hanig of Merrill graduated with a BS in Aviation, Cum Laude, during commencement ceremonies for Minnesota State University, Mankato, held May 3, 2024, held in Taylor Center’s Bresnan Arena on the Minnesota State Mankato campus.

Heinz graduates from Winona State University, named to Dean’s List

Jaida Heinz of Merrill graduated from Winona State University following spring semester 2024 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Magna Cum Laude, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Spanish, Magna Cum Laude.
Heinz was also named to the Dean’s List for spring semester 2024. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must be an undergraduate enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours for a grade) and achieve a minimum GPA of 3.5.

The spring semester Dean’s List at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls has been released, naming full-time undergraduates who have earned a GPA of at least 3.5 on a scale of 4.0, or midway between an “A” and “B” average. Area students named to the Dean’s List are:

UW-Green Bay announces academic honors for Spring 2024

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay announced the names of undergraduate students receiving semester honors for spring 2024 semester academic achievement. Students who earn a 4.0 GPA receive Highest Honors, High Honors go to students earning 3.99 to 3.75 GPAs, and Honors are given to students earning 3.74 to 3.50 GPAs. All were full-time students earning 12 or more credits of graded coursework. This list includes area students attending at any of the four UW-Green Bay campuses (Green Bay, Marinette, Manitowoc, and Sheboygan):
