Bluejay shooters sweep SPASH, then 68 shooters go to S.E.A.L. invitational

The Merrill Bluejay Trap Team had a week to remember, sweeping SPASH Shooting Club in all four divisions of Great Northern Trap Conference action before taking 68 of 72 athletes to the S.E.A.L. Sporting Clays shoot in Harshaw.
In Week 8 conference competition, Merrill won every division matchup, including a nail-biting one-point decision at the Varsity level. Final scores were: Intermediate Entry, Merrill 88, SPASH 82; Intermediate Advanced, Merrill 107, SPASH 94; Junior Varsity, Merrill 112, SPASH 108; and Varsity, Merrill 119, SPASH 118.
The sweep extended Merrill’s dominant season, leaving Intermediate Advanced undefeated at 7-0 for the year. Varsity and Junior Varsity both improved to 6-1, while Intermediate Entry moved to 5-2. With just one week remaining in the regular season, the Bluejays are well-positioned across all divisions heading into postseason play.
Leading the Varsity squad in shooting this week were Matthew Wiederhoeft, Mason Meyer, Peyton Hagenbucher, and William Kline, each shooting 24. Caleb Thompson, Andrew Dettmering, and Mathew Maas followed with 23s.
In Junior Varsity, Collin Gennrich and Tavin Heidemann each shot 23, with Jaxson Ames, Aydan Bergman, and Otto Lee adding 22s.

In Intermediate Advanced, Trenton Lapsenberg led the division with a 23. Carson Wallace followed with a 22, and Landon Reist and Malayna Kufahl each posted 21s. Corbin Hanson, Braxston Wozniczka, and Alex Neumann rounded out the division with 20s.
Intermediate Entry was paced by CJ Rickher and Kaden Westrich with 19s. Jeffrey Tomajcik added an 18, while Jacob Sharp, Blake Schneider, and Tanner Reinhardt each contributed 16s.
The week was capped by the team’s trip to the S.E.A.L. Sporting Clays event in Harshaw, where athletes and a strong contingent of family supporters made the outing one of the program’s signature experiences of the season.
The Bluejays and their coaching staff also extended thanks to the volunteers, families, and community members whose support continues to make the program possible.
