Betty Jane Fehrmann

Betty Jane Fehrmann, age 84, of Merrill, died Sunday, August 21, 2011, surrounded by her family at Walnut Grove in Merrill.

Betty Jane was born October 6, 1926, in Merrill, daughter of the late Raymond and Marie (Zimmerman) Gilson. She married William E. Fehrmann on February 12, 1949, in Merrill. He survives. Betty Jane was a 1946 graduate of Merrill Senior High School. She retired after 30 years of employment from the Weinbrenner Shoe Company, Merrill, where she was the Payroll Supervisor. Betty Jane was an active member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. She had been a member of the former "Business and Professional Women" of Merrill. She enjoyed doing crafts, such as knitting and cross stitch, and making mittens for children of the community. She also enjoyed playing solitaire.

Survivors include her husband, William E. Fehrmann, Merrill; two sons, William D. Fehrmann**, and Raymond (Marjorie) Fehrmann, Merrill; five grandchildren, Katrina (Geoffrey) Depies, Merrill, Maxine (Peter) Schuetze, Merrill, Chester (Megan) Fehrmann, Anchorage, Alaska, Carrie Fehrmann, Wausau, and Corey Fehrmann, Stevens Point; seven great grandchildren, Cody, Tanner, Ryder, Austin, Ian, Kekoa, and Siobhan; one sister, Loretta (Herman) Krueger, Merrill; and one brother, Raymond (Phyllis) Gilson, Irma. Betty Jane is preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Sherwood, and Roger.

The funeral will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 26, 2011, at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. Pastor Missy Holdorf will officiate. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
