On Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, area residents gathered to pay tribute to veterans on this Veterans Day 2024. The day began with a traditional ceremony, the Honor Guard, bugle playing, and the laying of the wreaths at Merrill’s Cenotaph Park in the morning.
Then area schools, including Kate Goodrich Elementary School, Merrill High School, and Washington Elementary School, held special programs to extend their honor and thanks to local veterans personally.
Prairie River Middle School and St. John Lutheran School held similar programs on Wednesday, Nov. 13, after this issue had already gone to press.
