Allan E. Wegner, age 83, of Port Edwards, WI, died Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. Memorial Services will be held Monday, September 11, 2023 at the Nekoosa United Church of Christ in Nekoosa, WI. Pastor Wanda Veldman will officiate, military honors will be provided by the Nekoosa VWF Post #5960.

Allan was born March 23, 1940 in Merrill, WI to Otto and Edna (Reinhardt) Wegner. He was employed as a police officer in the City of Merrill, he then was employed by Motorola Corporation in Wausau, WI. Allan was employed as a Communications Officer for Wood County for many years, retiring on February 21, 2003. He was a founding member of Rescue Code 3, now known as the Wood County Rescue Squad. Allan married Danise Dorfschmidt on August 5, 1961 in Merrill, WI, she passed away in 2018. Allan enjoyed woodworking, hunting, camping, fly fishing, bird watching, and spending time with his family and friends. He was also his own handyman and enjoyed helping his family from remolding a home to household repairs.

Allan is survived by his children: Jacquelyn (Christopher) Hoffman, Jeffrey (Linda) Wegner, Jenifer Dassow, grandchildren: Jonathan (Michelle) Eggers, Jessica (Adam) Buehring, Rayna Dassow, Kayden Dassow, Olivia Wegner, Lincoln Wegner, great-grandchildren: Dylan Buehring, Lauren Buehring, sister Sharon (LeRoy) Remmington, sisters-in-law: Delores Wegner, Sally Storm, and is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and special former son-in-law Nick Dassow. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Danise, siblings: Michael, Earl (Babe), Ellen (John) Neuwirth, Priscilla Kleinschmidt, Orville and Jeanette (Earl) Reeves and some nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Aspirus In-Home Healthcare, the staff of the Wisconsin Rapids VA Clinic, the staff and pastor of the Nekoosa United Church of Christ, and Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home. Allan took pride in donating to multiple charities every month. In lieu of flowers, please designate memorials to the charity of your choice.
