Aline J. Kanitz, age 80, of Merrill, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011.
Aline was born Nov. 21, 1931, in the town of Scott, Lincoln County, daughter of the late August and Hilda (Kleinschmidt) Kudick.
She was a homemaker. Aline was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Corning, and was a former Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed traveling; being outdoors, especially bird watching; the Green Bay Packers; and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Gwen (Michael) Schmidt, and Rhonda (Timothy) Henrichs, both of Merrill; three sons, Gordon Kanitz, Victor (Therese) Kanitz, and Virgil (Laurie) Kanitz, all of Merrill; five grandchildren, Ryan (Cheryl) Kanitz, Marshfield, Brad (Ginger) Kanitz, Merrill, Jason Schmidt, Wausau, Kelly Schmidt-Weith, Marathon, and Becky Schmidt, Seattle, WA; eight great grandchildren, Trinity, Logan, Brady, Eliana, Calleigh, and Natalie Kanitz, Allison Schmidt, and Jacob Weith; three step grandchildren, Tim and Tanya Slozes, and Tracy (Shawn) Boyd; and six step great grandchildren, Hunter, Elli, Sebastian, Xander, Wyatt, and Katie. Aline is preceded in death by two siblings, Lorna and Robert Kudick.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Corning, Lincoln County. The Rev. Joel Danner will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel Church Cemetery, Town of Corning. Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
