Active threat training to take place at Lincoln County Service Center

Posted

Lincoln County Emergency Management, in coordination with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, will conduct an active threat training exercise at the Lincoln County Service Center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 23, 2025. This initiative supports a whole-community approach to public safety by equipping Lincoln County personnel with the skills and confidence needed to respond effectively during a potential active threat emergency and also aims to strengthen workplace safety.
The training will feature realistic scenarios, including the use of blank ammunition to simulate an active threat environment. These simulations are carefully designed to reinforce communication, coordination, and rapid response under pressure. Residents and businesses in the area may hear loud noises or see an increased presence of emergency vehicles and personnel. There is no threat to the public and the training is a pre-scheduled, controlled exercise. Law enforcement will maintain a secure perimeter and ensure safety throughout the event.
To ensure a safe and uninterrupted training environment, the second floor of the building will be closed to the public from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This includes the County Treasurer, EMS, County Clerk, Information Technology, Administration, Corporation Counsel, and Emergency Management offices. Additionally, the ground floor will be closed from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., affecting UW-Extension, Register of Deeds, Forestry, Land Services, Veteran Service Office, Maintenance, and Economic Development Corporation. Members of the public who have business with any of these departments are encouraged to plan accordingly and adjust their visit schedules to avoid these closure periods.
This critical and invaluable training underscores Lincoln County’s investment in community-wide resilience, interagency collaboration, and proactive readiness efforts.
