$100,000 winning Powerball ticket sold at Merrill BP

Posted

A Powerball ticket worth $100,000 was sold at the BP station at 1201 Grand Ave. in Merrill for the Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, drawing, according to a release from the Wisconsin Lottery.
The winning ticket matched four white balls — 2, 21, 24 and 25 — along with the Powerball number, 7. Because the player added the $1 Power Play feature, the standard $50,000 prize for that match was doubled by a 2X multiplier.
It’s the largest prize ever sold by the Merrill BP, according to the Lottery.
Statewide, 8,035 winning Powerball tickets were sold for the Sept. 16 drawing, ranging from $4 to $100,000. Nationally, 13 tickets worth $50,000 or more were sold for that drawing, according to Powerball.com. Nobody matched all five numbers and the Powerball, pushing Saturday’s jackpot to an estimated $298 million.
Wisconsin Lottery retailers that sell winning tickets over $599 receive a 2% Retailer Performance Winning Ticket Incentive, up to $100,000.
Players have 180 days from the draw date to claim their winnings. Information on claiming a prize, along with the Lottery’s mobile app, is available at wilottery.com.
Powerball drawings are held Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 9:59 p.m., with tickets sold until 9 p.m. Tickets cost $2 per play. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338; the odds of winning a $50,000 prize are 1 in 913,130.
