Caryol J. DeBels

Caryol J. DeBels, age 86, of Tomahawk, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2021 in Mesa, Arizona.  Caryol was born on October 16, 1935 in Deerbrook, WI to Emery and Marjorie (Washatko) McKinney. She was married to George DeBels Jr. on July 16, 1955. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2016. Caryol worked in the Human Resources office at Sacred Heart – St. Mary’s Hospital in Tomahawk for 29 years.  Caryol and George farmed in the Harrison area for 40 years before retiring to their new home on Highway D, east of Tomahawk.  After George’s death she moved to the Clear Lake Condominiums where she enjoyed bonfires, lunch dates and the company of  her neighbors.  While in Tomahawk, Caryol enjoyed volunteering for the historical society, food pantry and senior center. She was also an active board member for the Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation.  George and Caryol wintered in the Arizona sunshine for 24 years, where Caryol would partake in several park activities and enjoyed the company of her many Venture Out Park friends.  She especially loved to play cards and knit mittens, hats and slippers.

Caryol is survived by her children – Mike (Connie) DeBels of Tomahawk, Tim (April) DeBels of Tomahawk, Georgia (Dan) Kedrowski of Ham Lake, MN, Terri (Dave) Detert of Rhinelander and Leslie (Jim) Studenski of Roseville, MN. She is further survived by her brother – Robert (Anita) McKinney of Aurora, IL, 13 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren and special friend Tom Gillette. In addition to her husband George, Caryol is preceded in death by her parents, three sons – Tony, Karel & Joel, and two sisters – Emily Kluball & Ruth Koth.
