House fire in Town of Skanawan; seven people escape uninjured

A house fire on Stevenson Rd., West of Grundy Rd., in the Town of Skanawan was reported on Dec. 22, 2021. The call came in to Dispatch at approximately 12:37 a.m. and Tomahawk Fire Department, Tomahawk EMS, and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office immediately responded.

“Upon arrival, the rear of the house was fully engulfed in flames,” a press release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said. “It was discovered that the seven occupants of the house were able to safely evacuate the residence. All occupants reported no injuries.”

Based on the on-scene investigation, “it was reported that the fire started in the attic. One of the occupants woke up to the noise of crackling and the smell of smoke. The occupant woke the other six occupants and evacuated the house and called 911.”

The Town of Russell Fire Department, Town of Nokomis Fire Department, Wisconsin Public Service, and the American Red Cross also responded to assist with this incident.
